Frog Grog, A Slot Machine Announced by Thunderkick
Thunderkick is the creator of Frog Grog, a game which relies on witchcraft and potion creation for its main theme.
The action takes place inside a witch’s laboratory, where the Frog Grog is being created in a cauldron, which is placed in the middle, at the bottom of the reels.
For its symbols, the game relies mostly on the various potions that the witch creates, but there are also a frog, a moth and a flower in there. Its features include Dropping symbols, multipliers of up to 7x, wild symbols and a Mystery Game. This game has 23 lines and 5 reels. The biggest payouts could potentially reach $7,000.
What We Love
While I’m not 100% satisfied with the things that the symbols are showing us, overall I think that Thunderkick got the design right, and it’s a game that I enjoyed playing largely because of that aspect.
The symbols have various bottles and jars that have green, purple or green potions, some with eye balls inside, plus there are three recipients which have a moth, a heart and a flower. The symbols are placed on shelves and small cubicles which are part of a piece of furniture.
On one side you have a table with candles and the hat of the witch, on the other side of the screen there is an open book, probably with spells or potion recipes.
The Dropping Symbols feature is part of this game, and it’s something that you will probably notice in quite a few modern slots.
The symbols that get to form a combo will drop from the reels, new ones coming in to replace them, and hopefully bring you additional wins. Each new round of wins that forms this way has a bigger multiplier, the maximum one you can reach being at 7x.
The Frog is the wild symbol, which is the only one to have a feature attached to it in this game. It is going to be a substitute, nothing else, and it will be used to replace other symbols which you need in that position.
At the same time, the Wild Frog removes symbols that are on the same reel or row as it is, triggering the Dropping Symbols.
A Mystery Game can trigger as well, at random, during certain spins where you have no other wins. It looks at the low paying symbols on the reels, and uses them to pay you, depending on how many you get of each type. The symbols with Frogs, Flowers and Moths are not taken into consideration.
What We Do Not Like
With a top payout of up to $1,000, at a wager of $100 per spin, I would’ve loved bigger top pokies. Luckily, the multipliers can help a bit.
Frog Grog is a charming little game, it has some unusual features, and overall I think it is a good effort on Thunderkick’s part.
