Microgaming’s January Release Will Be Amazing
Chinese themed games might not be unusual in a pokie developer’s collection, but Huangdi is not your typical pokie machine, at least when it comes to its theme.
Its basis comes from a legendary emperor of China, one that is mentioned by the local legends and which is considered a deity almost, the stories saying that he ruled for 100 years. Microgaming has announced that this will be the pokie machine that they will launch in January 2017.
It will be a game with 25 pay lines, with 5×3 reels and which will apparently offer up to 60,000 coins during certain features. We know that it will have stacked and expanding symbols, scatters, wilds and free spins.
What We Love
The story is a good one, and the design is unique enough since it’s not showing off the usual symbols, that Chinese themed titles will put forward. Among the images that are used for the symbols you will find the image of Huangdi, the Yellow Emperor, but also a logo, a golden dragon, a medicine box and an instrument from the time.
Hand painted Royals, which start from the 10 and go up to the A, are considered low paying symbols.
One of the things that this game brings to the table is its use of stacked and expanding symbols. The first reel is the one that will sometimes get stacked symbols, from among the ones that are of higher value.
If the entire first reel gets occupied by a stacked symbol, then all regular symbols that have the same image will be expanded on the other reels. Obviously, this can bring quite a few paying combinations formed at the same time, 25 of them to be exact.
You’re going to encounter wild symbols as well, which is something to be expected in any modern game. A wild symbol will be used whenever you need it, but only from the position that it lands in. You can’t use the wild if it’s not on the pay line which needs the substitute.
The Golden Dragon was chosen to appear scattered, and to trigger 15 free spins when present in 3+ positions. As a scatter, it is not required to be on certain lines, just to be present.
During the free spins in question, you’re going to get the wild stacked on reel 1 as well, and it will have the ability to expand the other wilds if it covers all three positions from that column.
What We Do Not Like
The game is not due to be released for another two months or so, so it’s too early to know if there are major downsides to it.
Huangdi does look like a game that is worth trying out at the very least. The unique theme has something to do with it, but there are good features also inside.
