IGT Just Launched The Flintstones Pokie
The Flintstones is a new pokie developed by Playtech. It is themed around; you guessed it, the Flintstones. It is just one of the many pokies Playtech is including in the early 2016 game developing rampage, they are on. We are not complaining because they make a good game. Playtech are a forerunner of the online pokie industry. T
hey were founded in 1999 and have developed over 400 games. From a company with this much experience we expect a good game, and that is what the put out. Time and time again, Playtech releases games with not only great gameplay but beautiful aesthetics.
What we like
We like the lengths to which they have taken this theme. It is a great theme to begin with. Who doesn’t like the Flintstones but they have gone all out, and included everything from the dinosaur vacuum cleaner to Fred’s love of bowling, in a bonus game. It is a well-designed pokie, with a bright and colourful colour scheme.
The background image is a lovely piece of artwork. It has light green grass, contrasted by a light blue sky. There is the iconic stone house to leave you with no doubt that you are playing a Flintstones pokie. It is a 5×4 pokie, but some of the higher value symbols take up the space of two symbols. We really like that there is a massive 1024 ways to wins.
This really takes the guess work out of what is and is not a win. If the required, matching, symbol lands anywhere on the adjacent reels, it is counted as a win. We have not played the game yet but this should translate to frequent wins. We do not know the value of the symbols. High value symbols and lots of paylines, are all the ingredients required for a game that sustains a bankroll.
This game has all kinds of features. Playtech has not gone into details, as to how they will work, but allow us to make some assumptions.
There is a feature, which sees Fred bowling. It looks like you place a bet to have him bowl a ball and are rewarded when he knocks down pins. A clever free spins feature will give you spins paid at the value of the bet, which unlocked them. It has a nice designed and continues the theme with Wilma Flintstone and her dinosaur vacuum that shoots wilds.
The third bonus game hinted at in the promotional material is a bit of a mystery. The characters drive around the bottom of the reels, while question marks float over them. We are intrigued by what is going on here, and will have to wait until closer to the release date to find out.
What we don’t like
We have not played the game, so it would be a little unfair to pass judgement. I looks like a great pokie, but we do worry a little about the symbol values.
When a pokie has this many paylines the trade of is often lower symbol values. The developer needs to make money, but we hope that they keep the wins big enough that we can still keep our bankrolls steady.
Is this game worth playing?
We have not played the game and consequently we are unable to answer this. We are going to play it, purely because of the theme and the interesting features. It looks like it will be a great game and we recommend that you give it a chance.
